swag外流 art professors Linda Lyke and Mary Beth Heffernan are exhibiting some of their work in new shows at two local art galleries.

Lyke, a printmaker, is one of three Los Angeles-based artists showcased in "New Ruins," a Sept. 11 - Oct. 8 exhibit at the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock. The show "explores the perilous relationship between nature and civilization." Lyke is exhibiting seven pieces plus a framed series, "Dispersants," the proceeds of which will benefit the National Wildlife Federation's Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund.
"New Ruins" can be viewed 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock, is located at 2225 Colorado Blvd., Los Angeles. For more information, go to . Admission is free.
Heffernan is showing four pieces from her ongoing "Knife series" at the Cerritos College Art Gallery exhibit, "Neither Swords Nor Plowshares: Functional Utilities." She is one of 14 artists displaying work in the exhibit, which runs from Sept. 13 - Oct. 14. Two of Heffernan's pieces are prints, while a third, "Knife Tongue," is a sculpture, and the fourth, "Knife Dialects," is an installation.
"Neither Swords Nor Ploughshares" can be viewed 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 - 8 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday. Admission is free.
